Rinat Yerushalaim Synagogue – the Heichal of Rabbeinu Yoram Michael Abergel – is committed to equal service for everyone, including people with disabilities. This website was built to be comfortable and accessible for all.
Conformance
The site was adapted to the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations 2013 and Israeli Standard IS 5568 at level AA, based on WCAG 2.0.
What we did
- Hierarchical headings, and language and direction attributes (Hebrew right-to-left, English left-to-right).
- AA colour contrast for text and readable fonts.
- Full keyboard navigation, visible focus and a "Skip to content" link.
- Alternative text for images, and real text (not images) in comic captions – readable by screen readers.
- Responsive layout for phone, tablet and desktop; zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
- Videos load only on click, with no autoplay.
At the synagogue
Wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking.
Known limitations
Some content comes from external services (YouTube videos, maps) and its accessibility depends on them. Recorded videos have no captions. We keep improving.
